Advanced Sensor Solutions
Our expertise extends to UAS sensor technologies, enabling precise, long-endurance operations. From testbed aircraft propulsion validation to future UAS designs for detection and payload delivery, we provide solutions for dynamic environments.
Details
Overview
The Advanced Sensor Solutions initiative showcases our expertise in developing and validating cutting-edge sensors on airborne platforms. Using the modified PA-31-350 Chieftain testbed aircraft, we integrate and flight-test multi-spectral, passive radar, acoustic, and detection systems—delivering proven performance for defence while prioritising adjacent commercial applications in precision agriculture and environmental monitoring.
Goals
Demonstrate real-world sensor integration and validation on manned testbeds
Accelerate the development of UAS-compatible sensors through flight-proven data
Enable practical solutions for adjacent industries, such as crop health monitoring and ecosystem surveillance
Support cashflow generation from testbed services to fund future UAS designs
Participants
Open to defence partners, agtech companies, environmental agencies, UAS developers, and research collaborators seeking reliable, airborne-validated sensor technologies. No advanced aerospace background required—just a shared interest in turning concepts into flight-ready solutions.
Features
Airborne integration of multi-spectral and ISR sensors on PA-31-350 Chieftain
Real-time flight test and evaluation for performance validation
Passive radar and acoustic detection prototyping
Pathways to UAS deployment in agriculture (yield optimisation) and environmental monitoring
Customised data analysis and reporting for commercial applications
Impact
This capability transforms theoretical sensor designs into reliable, real-world performance. By leveraging our testbed platform, we reduce development risk, generate early revenue from services, and unlock sustainable innovations in adjacent sectors—empowering precision agriculture, environmental protection, and broader aerospace advancement with flight-proven technology.
